This was a micro budget sizzle reel for a documentary format with Gen, following the success of a video we made with her for YouTube, which gained 100,000 views and a wonderful reception from a community online. While sometimes shy on camera, Gen loves collaborating and being a part of video projects, so the challenge while filming was to make her feel familiar and comfortable which each member of the crew. This allowed Gen’s authentic self and infectious personality to shine in the film.

The sizzle reel consisted on a mix of interviews, actuality and more high concept constructed scenes.

THE GENEVIEVE TEST - Pilot/Sizzle

“An honest, aspirational travel documentary series following Filmmaker Bertie Gilbert and his sister Genevieve, who has learning and mental disabilities, as they travel the world to meet people who have overcome similar difficulties and shattered expectations about the type of life possible for them— all in an effort to embolden Gene with the confidence and know-how to reach her own goals.”

THE STAGE AWARDS

A few examples of fast lighting setups in a Theatre space, with minimal crew. With the fabulous Miriam-Teak Lee.

ONE LETTER, Short Film.

Hear Art Project

“A man reunites with his deaf cousin at a family remembrance – and long simmering tensions and resentments come to the boil”

This was a great collaboration between Oscar winning production company Slick Films and the Royal Association for Deaf people. Our wonderful director Brian Duffy brought together a cast and crew of Deaf, Hard of hearing and Hearing people to collaborate on this project, while exploring the themes of social isolation and being “othered” within a family unit.

I was very honoured to incorporate several deaf crew members into my departments with the aid of BSL interpreters.

PERFECT - TV PILOT for DAVE

“An irreverent comedy following three young wheelchair users on their quest for jobs and love”

This was a 30 minute pilot shot over 5 days for TV channel Dave. Featuring George Robinson from Sex Education, this was one of my favourite jobs of the last few years. The shoot was planned around access and safety for the cast.
